Thones is a lively market town at the base of the Aravis range of mountains, and the ski areas of La Clusaz, Grand Bornand, or Manigod (10 minutes drive). Thones is also 15 minutes drive from the centre of Annecy, and 15 minutes from the nearest beach on the lakeside at Menthon or Veyrier. The lively market in Thones is held every Saturday throughout the year, with year round sporting activities (swimming pool, ice rink in winter, via ferrata climbing route, mountain biking, hiking and 2 golf courses within 20 minutes drive).
The house is on a traffic free cobbled pedestrian street in the centre of Thones. There are two supermarkets, 4 banks, Post Office, news agents (selling English papers), restaurants, bars, cafés.
There are TGV connections to Paris/Eurostar from Annecy. The house is 55 minutes from Geneva airport or 1h15 from Lyon Satolas airport.
We bought the house in February 2005 and renovated it (moving-in in May of the same year). We have had to put it on the market reluctantly as my father in law died recently and we have moved closer to my mother in law in Savoie. We now live about 30 minutes away so should you wish to visit we can easily come to show you around.
